[...] I’ve seen some people suggest using Myer’s Dark Rum, which is Jamaican and a little cheaper than the Coruba, but I’ve never held Myer’s in very high regard. The Coruba is just better, hands-down. It provides a nice, funky counterpoint to the sweetness of the coconut cream, both being cut just perfectly by the lime juice.
Thanks. I thought there was something there to make it burn longer. I almost never do TIki (though God knows, the longer I read blogs, the weaker my resistance), but I'm certain that we non-Tiki cocktailians deserve an opportunity for flaming garnish, dammit!

MrBaliHai, done! I actually quartered the recipe for that glass. Damn it's still just that good.

Doug, that is fire. DO NOT TOUCH. But in actuality there's a sugar-cube doused in 151. It makes a wonderful sizzle, and the flame lasts quite a bit longer than with alcohol alone.

I've got a question about the flaming garnish. What is the red-orange cube inside the lime shell? Is it some kind of thingy that ends up acting like a wick?

You might want to mention that this recipe serves more than one person, unless you like to drink 7 oz. of rum at a single sitting...;-)

I'd love to see this photo in the <a href="http://www.flickr.com/groups/exotic_cocktails/" rel="nofollow">Exotic Cocktails and Tiki Mugs</a> Flickr pool, btw (hint, hint).
